OnlineCAD quick help

Start: Open… loads an .ac model, .ocad project, or .obj model from your computer. For AC3D textures, select the .ac file together with its texture images. For OBJ materials, select the OBJ together with its .mtl and texture images; the MTL is optional. New starts a blank model. Add geometry from the left panel; Empty mesh starts with one vertex.

Add geometry: Draw polygon · surface makes a filled face; outline makes a closed line; Draw line makes an open chain. Choose XY, XZ or YZ and a plane offset, then click points. Enter or double-click finishes, Backspace removes the last point, and Esc cancels. Finish creates one undoable object. Circle is an outline; Disk is filled with a center vertex. Block is a cuboid with a shared grid of faces; Cuboid has six faces. Shape dialogs set dimensions and sections. Sizes are in model units.

Select: Choose a part, then Object (1), Vertex (2), Edge (3), or Face (4). Click to select, Shift-click to extend, or drag a box with Select (Q). A selects all; Alt+A clears. X-ray includes hidden geometry. Components belong to the active part.

View: Alt-drag orbits, right-drag pans, and the wheel zooms. Use Top, Front, Side, or Four views for alignment. Fit model shows everything visible; F frames your selection.

Transform: G moves, R rotates, S scales. Drag handles or enter inspector values and click Apply transform. Choose space, pivot, axis, and snap above the view. Y is vertical. Dimensions use model units.

Build: In Vertex mode, Add vertex… enters coordinates. Select vertices in perimeter order and use Make face / fill to connect and fill them. Make line connects a vertex chain. In Edge or Face mode, Extrude… (E) adds connected geometry in a chosen direction and distance. Fill a closed edge boundary to cap an opening.

Edit: Geometry tools split edges, cut quad loops, weld vertices, and flip faces. Object mode offers duplicate, mirror, join, and group. Hide and Isolate help focus on parts. Symmetry moves existing matching vertices; Mirror objects creates a copy.

Appearance: Materials & textures assigns colors and loads local images. UV editor maps selected faces and lets you move, rotate, or scale texture coordinates. Reference images help alignment.

Save: Save project opens the browser’s native save prompt for an .ocad file with geometry, materials, loaded textures, and reference images. Export… asks whether to save one editable AC3D polygon file, one triangulated AC3D copy, one polygon-preserving OBJ + MTL package, or one GLB viewing file. OBJ + MTL asks for a destination folder and writes loaded textures beside them; browsers without folder access download one ZIP. If the file picker is unavailable, the selected file downloads normally. Open… reopens AC and project formats. Original files are unchanged; save before New or reload.

Face clipboard: In Face mode select faces, then use Copy faces (⌘/Ctrl+C), Cut faces (⌘/Ctrl+X), Delete faces (Delete), or Paste faces (⌘/Ctrl+V). Duplicate faces copies and pastes in one step, with one undo. Paste creates a separate editable part at the original world position with materials and UVs; use Move to separate overlapping copies. Cut, Delete and Paste are undoable. The face clipboard stays in this tab until reload; it also works after opening another model in the same tab. Text fields keep their normal copy/paste behavior.

Undo: ⌘/Ctrl+Z; redo with ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z. Delete removes selected geometry; Esc cancels a transform. Local browser recovery is a backup convenience, not a saved project file.
